How the idea for the Keyfender® came about:

We are two passionate kite surfers, adventurers and always looking for outdoor experiences. We love to be on the road in a van to surf and enjoy nature. Losing our car keys on the beach was an expensive and very annoying affair. After this experience we researched extensively for solutions and looked for a stable, waterproof and floatable housing for car keys and found nothing suitable. The question "where do we leave our car keys safe when we are at the water" remained unanswered. As a trained precision mechanic, Christoph began to design a case himself and worked every free minute on a watertight seal for the case. The aim was to develop something that would meet our own requirements.

When our daughter Lola was six months old, we started touring Southern Europe and North Africa with the first prototype of the Keyfender® in our camper.

On our trip we showed the people the waterproof key case at every opportunity and everyone was immediately thrilled. Everybody knew the problem "where to put the key when you go in or out of the water?" We continued with this tailwind, incorporated the collected feedback into the further development and continuously improved the Keyfender®.

After two years of development, we are now ready to start production.
